The toolbox

Four free tools. One honest second opinion.

Each one checks a different part of an offer. Use one, or run a deal through all of them.

How to use it

Three checks before you pay.

Read the words

Run the sales page through the Hype Detector.

It flags income promises, fake deadlines and "no experience needed," and checks for a price, a refund policy and who it's for.

Check the math

Put the claim into the Keep Calculator.

"$1,000 a day" looks different once fees, refunds and taxes come out, and once you see how many visitors it takes.

Score the deal

Answer the Scorecard honestly.

Who gets paid, how hard you're pushed, what's in writing. "Not sure" answers become your list of questions to ask.

$15.9B

reported lost to fraud by Americans in 2025, a record. The FTC says most losses never get reported.

FTC testimony, March 2026
~1/2

of those reported losses came from investment scams, the biggest category by dollars.

FTC testimony, March 2026
47%

of people who tried multi-level marketing lost money. About a quarter broke even.

The free guide

The Scam Spotter's Field Guide.

A 52-page field guide to the twelve traps of the make-money-online world: the screenshot, the course about the course, the upsell ladder, the countdown that never ends and eight more. Each one comes with field marks, real FTC case files, and the one question that breaks it.

No email required. Share it with anyone it might help.

  • Field marksThe specific signs to look for in each trap. One proves nothing; three is a pattern.
  • Case filesReal examples from the public record, like MOBE and the FTC's 2024 AI sweep.
  • The Hype Translator"Done for you" means done to you. Seventeen phrases, decoded.
  • If you already paidRefund requests, the 60-day credit card dispute window, and where to report.
The pledge

What you won't find here.

A site about hype shouldn't run on hype. So it doesn't.

  • Countdown timersNothing here expires. Take all the time you want.
  • Affiliate linksNo one pays to be recommended, and nobody here earns from what you buy elsewhere.
  • Income claimsNo screenshots, no "students made $X." Your results are yours to find out.
  • Your dataThe tools run in your browser. What you paste or answer isn't sent or saved.

Sean "SAMX," building on the web for thirty years.

I've made websites since guestbooks and hit counters were a thing, and I've watched the same handful of tricks get repainted and sold to a fresh crowd every few years. These tools are the second opinion I wish more people had before they paid. Built in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle.
